An aptly titled exhibition ‘Baad-e-Saba’ was held at Art Scene in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Govt of Sindh and Mehran University, Jamshoro. Nigaah reproduces the objectives of the exhibition as stated by the VC, Mehran University and other organizers who supported this event.
“Vice Chancellor’s Message”
All forms of arts 'performing' or 'visual' with their delicate intricacies, melodies and creativities help in smoothening the behavior of the people and so of the nations. Where the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) have a credit of having largest number of engineering disciplines in Sindh is privileged to have Centre of Excellence in Art and Design (CEAD) as its academic component catering in the disciplines of visual arts.
The CEAD now in collaboration with the ministry of culture and antiquities has taken an initiative, first of its kind, to gather together the visual artists of Sindh on one platform. This is the first time that a variety of art work done by more that one hundred fifty artists of Sindh, in the shape of “Paintings” , ”Sculpture” , and “Printmaking” are being displayed in the Artscene Gallery, Clifton Karachi. This exhibition, I believe, will prove to be important in bringing the art work to the drawing rooms of Sindh’s elite class, just to mention but not limited to; the bureaucrats, politician, and landlords.
I am led to believe that in the follow up of this event there is another giant program in the shape of “Fashion Show” being jointly shaped by the Department of Culture and Antiquities and the CEAD, MUET Jamshoro which is also in offing.
I wish to congratulate the Ministry of Culture and Antiquities, Government of Sindh and the management of CEAD, MUET, Jamshoro on arranging such a successful exhibition.
I wish all the best to organizers and attendees of the event.

PROMOTING VISUAL ART OF SINDH
The modern education system has put to stake our traditional art and craft forms which are being consistently rendered as an outdated commodity of the old, poor, illiterate and uneducated community of Sindh.
The ministry of culture during the whole year of 2017, by organizing back to back cultural events, has remained in consistent struggle firstly to revitalize the forgotten elements of otherwise a priceless rich culture of Sindh, secondly to institutionalize them, thirdly to integrate them with one another, fourthly to integrate the institutions with the ministry of culture, tourism and antiquities and fifthly to create a nexus amongst all and with the Government of Sindh, and finally to shape it as a fully functional and productive industry having export potential so as not only our cultural heritage is preserved and promoted but internationally shared so as all the Stakeholders can earn economic benefit from the ongoing OBOR initiative having CPEC as its flagship.
Having said that we are happy to have Centre of Excellence in Art and Design, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology as our partner academic institution in promoting our culture initially at domestic level and then to national and international level.
Syed Sardar Ali Shah
Minister of Culture Antiquities Department
Government of Sindh
It gives me immense pleasure to record here that this very first initiative of bringing together the artists of Sindh and their art work is fully sponsored by the department of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Government of Sindh running under the able of leadership of Syed Sardar Ali shah organized with the executive collaboration of the Center of Excellence in Art and Design (CEAD) Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro.
The exhibition is a grand one in the sense that more than 150 artists from all over Sindh have contributed their art work. The gallery is fully paid in shape of rent. This has never happened in the history of the gallery since its establishment, as claimed by the management of the Artscene Gallery, Karachi. By doing so a very clear objective, of lowering the prices of the art pieces to an affordable level so that the maximum drawing rooms of the people of Sindh are decorated with the original work of the artists, is to be achieved.
This program was matured while meeting of the undersigned with the culture minister on the eve of the 3rd International Sufi Conference organized by the culture department held on 5th and 6th May 2017 at Beach Luxury Hotel Karachi. The program from its conception to execution is managed in a record 06 week time with the assistance of a very devoted team comprising of Mr. Fazal Ellahi and Mr. Kashif Shahzad of the CEAD, MUET, Jamshoro.
In Collaboration with the culture department the CEAD is planning or organize another unique event “Fashion Show” in the calendar year 2017. We wish to meet you guys again there.
